You may think of Total Local’s Community Resource Guides as just phone books. But, actually Total Local, headquartered in Eaton Rapids, is the only Michigan-based directory publisher, exclusively serving small towns surrounding Ann Arbor, Lansing, Jackson, and Battle Creek. We distribute 21 different Community Resource Guides to approximately 400,000 U.S. Postal residences and business in more than 50 different communities. In the front of our guides, you’ll find community, school, library, government, and chamber information, as well as maps, a list of area churches, and numbers for local organizations and clubs.
Partnering with Chambers of Commerce
In fact, we have a long history of partnering with local chambers to highlight their members. Each chamber member receives a complimentary bold listing in the white pages with the chamber logo next to their business. Chambers often distribute Total Local Community Resource Guides as part of their community outreach efforts. By partnering with Chambers of Commerce and community organizations, our guides can be used as a valuable community marketing tool.
Not only do we put a supply of our Community Resource Guides in each town’s Libraries, Hospitals or Health Centers, Hotels, and Grocery Stores, our guides also go to every mailbox in a zip code through Every Door Direct Mail. However, unlike a postcard mailer, most people keep their Community Resource Guide all year. People look forward to new issues coming out and often call or stop by if, for some reason, they haven’t received their issue.
In 2021, we’re launching four new Community Resource Guides, in the Adrian, Ionia, Portland and Whitmore Lake areas, bringing our total up to 25 directories.
We also will continue to add even more community information to the front of the Total Local Community Resource Guides, such as area manufacturing information, historical information, community calendars, trail maps, and more. With this expanded section, we hope to make our guides even more useful as a community resource.
